1What is the Microlab M105?

Microlab is a long-standing PC speaker brand that's popular in Vietnam for its affordable prices. The M105 is a compact 2.1 system with one subwoofer and two satellites, described by Microlab as a 'classic 2.1 multimedia system in a mini size' with wooden cabinets. In Vietnam it's sold officially for about 529–560K VND (Phuc Anh, ThinkPro, Meta.vn) with a 12-month warranty. It's a popular choice for upgrading from laptop speakers to a set with noticeable bass without spending much.

2Design: wooden cabinets, down-firing sub

The subwoofer measures 135 × 215 × 165 mm, with a black wooden cabinet and a front bass reflex port to boost the low end. Notably, the 4-inch subwoofer driver sits at the bottom of the box and fires down at the floor or desk — this spreads the bass and makes it fuller, but also means placement matters a lot (a wooden floor or hard desk gives clearer bass than carpet). The two compact satellites measure 70 × 85 × 145 mm, have grille covers and fit on either side of a monitor. The whole set weighs about 1.7 kg.

3Sound: full bass, best for small rooms

The system delivers 10W RMS total: 5W for the subwoofer and 2.5W for each satellite, with a 40Hz–20kHz range, THD under 0.5% and S/N above 70 dB. Thanks to the dedicated sub, the bass is clearly fuller and punchier than laptop speakers or cheap 2.0 speakers — great for movies, pop music and casual gaming in a study corner or bedroom. But 10W is modest: loud enough for rooms of about 10–15 m², while maxing it out can cause distortion. The sound leans toward entertainment (prominent bass), not accuracy for music production or critical listening.

4Connectivity and controls

The M105 has only a 3.5 mm input (a 3.5 mm–3.5 mm AUX cable is included), so you can plug in a PC, laptop, phone or TV with a 3.5 mm port. There's no Bluetooth, USB or optical input. Controls consist of one master volume knob on the subwoofer (on the back panel according to Microlab), with no separate bass control and no remote — if the bass is too much or too little, adjust EQ on your computer or move the sub. Phones with only USB-C need a USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter.

5Microlab M105 or Edifier MR3?

They serve different needs. The Microlab M105 (about 550K VND) is an entertainment 2.1 system with a dedicated sub and full bass, cheap and great for movies and casual music in small rooms. The Edifier MR3 (about 2 million VND) are 2.0 studio monitors with accurate sound, Bluetooth 5.4, TRS/RCA inputs and a headphone jack — better for serious listening, music production and video editing. If your budget is under 600K VND and you like bass, the M105 makes sense; if you need accurate sound and more connectivity, save up for the MR3.

6Who should buy it — and who shouldn't?

Buy it if you're a student upgrading laptop speakers on a budget of about 500–600K VND; want bass for movies and music in a bedroom or study corner; or like simple plug-and-play speakers. Skip it if you need Bluetooth for your phone, loud speakers for a living room, separate bass control or accurate sound for music production. In that case, look at higher-end Bluetooth 2.1 models from Microlab/Edifier or studio monitors like the Edifier MR3.

8Should you buy the Microlab M105?

The Microlab M105 is a cheap, good-value 2.1 system to replace laptop speakers: a dedicated sub for full bass, wooden cabinets, a compact footprint and an official warranty, for only about 550K VND. In exchange, 10W only suits small rooms, there's no Bluetooth and no separate bass control. If you need speakers with bass for a study corner or bedroom on a low budget, the M105 is a safe choice.

✓Pros

  • Dedicated subwoofer delivers clearly fuller bass than laptop or 2.0 speakers at this price.
  • Wooden cabinets and a down-firing 4-inch sub with front bass port for deeper bass.
  • Compact: small satellites beside the monitor, sub under or beside the desk.
  • Simple 3.5 mm connection for PCs, laptops, phones and TVs with a 3.5 mm port.
  • Long-standing Microlab brand with a 12-month official warranty.
  • About 530–560K VND for a 2.1 set.

✕Cons

  • 10W only suits small rooms; it can distort at high volume.
  • No Bluetooth — phones must connect by cable.
  • Only one master volume knob, no separate bass control.
  • Only a 3.5 mm input, no USB or optical.
  • An older design; some retailers list it as discontinued — check availability.
  • Entertainment-oriented sound, not as accurate as studio monitors like the Edifier MR3.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Microlab M105 have Bluetooth?

No. The M105 connects only via a 3.5 mm jack. For wireless playback from a phone, add a 3.5 mm Bluetooth receiver or choose a Bluetooth speaker.

Is 10W loud enough?

Enough for small rooms of about 10–15 m², such as a bedroom or study corner. For a large living room or very loud playback, 10W falls short and may distort.

Can I adjust the bass separately?

No. The M105 has a single master volume knob. Adjust bass with your computer's EQ or by moving the subwoofer.

Can the Microlab M105 connect to a TV?

Yes, if the TV has a 3.5 mm headphone/line output. TVs with only optical output need an optical to 3.5 mm converter.

Should I buy the Microlab M105 or the Edifier MR3?

Choose the M105 (about 550K VND) for a cheap 2.1 system with full bass for movies and casual music. Choose the Edifier MR3 (about 2 million VND) for accurate sound, Bluetooth and more inputs.

How long is the warranty?

Authorized retailers such as Phuc Anh, ThinkPro and Meta.vn list a 12-month warranty.

Verdict

7.4/10

A 2.1 system around 550K VND with a dedicated sub, wooden cabinets and full bass — good value for upgrading laptop speakers in a study corner or bedroom, but only 10W and no Bluetooth.

Worth buying for students and small rooms needing cheap speakers with bass; if you need Bluetooth or accurate sound, choose a higher model.
