1What are the Edifier MR3?

The Edifier MR3 are affordable powered 2.0 studio monitors from Edifier, a PC speaker brand that's very popular in Vietnam. Unlike entertainment PC speakers that are usually tuned for extra bass, studio monitors are designed for accurate, flat sound — ideal for music production and video editing, and great for serious listening too. In Vietnam the MR3 cost about 1.9–2 million VND (FPT Shop, CellphoneS) with a 12-month warranty. The Shopee listing for this review sells both the MR3 and the bigger MR5 — this article focuses on the MR3, with an MR5 comparison so you choose the right one.

2Design: compact, MDF cabinets, two colors

The MR3 use MDF cabinets to reduce distortion and resonance, and they're compact enough to sit on either side of a monitor. The front has a 3.5-inch copper-colored mid/bass driver, a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter in a dimpled waveguide for a flatter, more extended high end, plus a volume knob and headphone jack — handy for switching to headphones without reaching behind the speakers. They come in black and white; the white version suits bright desk setups especially well.

3Sound: accurate, best for small rooms

Each speaker delivers 18W RMS (36W total), with a max SPL of 92.5 dB at 1 m, a 52Hz–40kHz range and Hi-Res Audio certification. A flat response means they reproduce recordings close to how they were made: clear vocals, well-separated instruments and no overpowering bass. In exchange, with 3.5-inch woofers, deep bass (below about 60Hz) is moderate, and 36W suits nearfield listening at a desk or small bedroom; international reviews note the MR3 aren't especially loud in larger rooms. If you love the heavy bass of entertainment speakers, consider that first. Room compensation (set via the EDIFIER ConneX app) helps reduce boomy bass when the speakers sit close to a wall.

4Connectivity: TRS, RCA, AUX and Bluetooth 5.4

Around the back there's a balanced TRS input — for connecting an audio interface or mixer with less noise, ideal for music production and recording. There are also RCA and 3.5 mm AUX inputs for PCs, laptops, turntables or TVs. Bluetooth 5.4 lets you stream from your phone, but only with the SBC codec, so for serious listening use a cable. The EDIFIER ConneX app adjusts settings such as room compensation. The MR3 have no optical or USB audio input — to connect a TV via optical you'll need a separate DAC.

5MR3 or MR5: which should you choose?

The MR5 are a big step up: a tri-amped 3-way design with a 5-inch woofer, 3.75-inch midrange and 1-inch tweeter, 110W RMS, 46Hz–40kHz response, max SPL around 101 dB and an added balanced XLR input. In Vietnam the MR5 cost about 3.4–4 million VND, nearly double the MR3. Choose the MR3 for desk listening, rooms under about 15 m² and a budget around 2 million VND. Choose the MR5 for bigger rooms, clearly deeper and louder bass, or serious production that needs XLR. Pick the right variant on the listing before ordering.

6Who should buy it — and who shouldn't?

Buy the MR3 if you want to upgrade from laptop or cheap PC speakers to accurate sound; are starting out in music production, video editing or podcasting and need affordable monitors; or want a good-looking, compact pair for your desk. Skip them if you need loud speakers for a living room, love heavy bass for EDM or action movies (a 2.1 system with a sub suits better), need an optical input for your TV, or want high-quality Bluetooth (LDAC/aptX).

7Where this review's information comes from

Zero Technology has not used this product hands-on. This review compiles and analyzes specifications published by Edifier (via the authorized Edifier Online store), prices and warranties from Vietnamese retailers (FPT Shop, CellphoneS, Meta.vn, An Phat), and comments from international reviews, as of October 2026. Prices may vary by variant and over time — check the product page before ordering.

8Should you buy the Edifier MR3?

The Edifier MR3 are the best-value studio monitors around 2 million VND: accurate sound, TRS/RCA/AUX/Bluetooth inputs, a headphone jack, room compensation and an attractive design. They're not for large rooms or bass lovers, and Bluetooth is basic. For listening, working or producing music at a desk, they're a very sensible choice; if you need louder, deeper sound, step up to the MR5.

✓Pros

  • Fairly flat 52Hz–40kHz response for accurate sound — great for music, movies and entry-level production.
  • Plenty of inputs: balanced TRS for interfaces/mixers, RCA, AUX and Bluetooth 5.4.
  • Front headphone jack and room compensation via the ConneX app.
  • MDF cabinets, compact design and attractive black/white finishes.
  • Hi-Res certified, with smooth highs from silk-dome tweeters.
  • About 2 million VND for Bluetooth studio monitors from a major brand.

✕Cons

  • 3.5-inch woofers limit deep bass; no dedicated subwoofer output.
  • 36W suits small rooms and desks; larger rooms lack volume (as international reviews note).
  • Bluetooth is SBC only, no AAC/aptX/LDAC.
  • No optical or USB input — TVs and PCs must connect via AUX/RCA.
  • Studio monitors sound accurate rather than bass-heavy like entertainment speakers at this price.
  • The listing bundles MR3 and MR5 at very different prices — easy to pick the wrong variant.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are studio monitors different from regular PC speakers?

Studio monitors are designed for accurate, flat sound so you hear recordings as they are, while entertainment PC speakers usually boost bass and treble for excitement. Monitors suit music production, video editing and serious listening.

Should I buy the Edifier MR3 or MR5?

The MR3 (36W, 3.5-inch woofers, about 2M VND) suit desks and small rooms. The MR5 (110W, 3-way, 5-inch woofers, about 3.4–4M VND) are clearly louder and deeper with an added XLR input, suiting bigger rooms or serious production.

Can the Edifier MR3 connect to a TV?

Yes, via RCA or 3.5 mm AUX if the TV has an analog output, or via Bluetooth. The MR3 have no optical input, so TVs with only optical out need a DAC.

Does the MR3's Bluetooth support LDAC or aptX?

No. The MR3 use Bluetooth 5.4 with the SBC codec. For the best quality, connect with a cable (TRS, RCA or AUX).

Do the MR3 have enough bass, and can I add a subwoofer?

The 3.5-inch woofers deliver moderate bass, enough for nearfield desk listening but not as deep as a system with a sub. The MR3 have no dedicated subwoofer output.

How long is the Edifier MR3 warranty?

Authorized Vietnamese retailers such as FPT Shop and Meta.vn list 12 months; the Shopee listing for this review states 15 months. Confirm with the seller when buying.

Verdict

8.5/10

Studio monitors around 2 million VND with accurate sound, TRS/RCA/AUX/Bluetooth 5.4, a headphone jack and room compensation — great value for desks and beginner producers, but not for large rooms.

Worth buying for desk setups and beginner producers; for larger rooms or deeper bass, choose the MR5.
